There are several reasons, but the most important thing is that we, as an innovative company in the packaging industry, consider ACTING more important than talking. Every year we lose over 10 billion trees on our beautiful planet. And the consequences are not positive – drought, climate change, poverty, food shortages and natural disasters are direct consequences of deforestation of the earth. Trees are necessary for the conversion of CO2 into oxygen, offering a living environment for many animal species, serving as a food source for both humans and animals and are also a resting and relaxing environment for many nature lovers. Fortunately, nature organizations around the world are making efforts to install new trees and to better protect the current forests.
Packaging is necessary for a livable world. Packaging ensures less food waste and makes efficient transport of products possible. At the same time, we must ensure that packaging does not end up in the environment and remain on the planet forever. We are also obliged within our sector to promote responsible recycling of packaging and to look for the materials with least Environmental impact.

THEREFORE: JOIN HANDS FOR A COMMON GOAL!
The participants of the United Packaging Forest have a warm heart for the environment and the preservation of our living environment. That is why the United Packaging Forest cooperates with the Trees for All foundation. By planting trees, we collectively offset the CO2 emissions of the entire production chain. Under the motto: “Every tree is one”, we want to make a real difference with as many companies in the chain as possible. Every participant, from individual to large company, is welcome to support this initiative.

WHAT IS
TREES
FOR
ALL?

The Trees for All logo perfectly reflects what this foundation stands for. In addition to the “tree”, Trees for All also focuses on people, the environment and the concept of added value. With Trees for All we simultaneously focus on the symbolic, recreational, ecological and social added value of trees and forests. Trees for All has been successfully audited by the independent regulator CBF. As the only provider of CO2 compensation, the foundation meets the strict criteria of the CBF in the Netherlands. These strict criteria apply tothe transparency of the foundation, the money flows and the open communication with the members about the various projects.
WHY IS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT SO IMPORTANT?
The Trees for All Foundation develops and supports projects all over the world. The concept is that all projects contribute to the sustainable development of the specific region. This means that the projects must have both an ecological and a socio-economic added value for the local society. By creating jobs in both tree growing and in the maintenance and protection of forests, the income position and living conditions of the local population improves. With improved awareness and interconnection and reduced atmospheric CO2 as a result. In short: win-win!
“THE PURCHASE OF A TREE IS INCLUDING CARE FOR THE NEXT 30 YEARS”
WHAT DOES THE 1-2-TREE PROGRAMME ENTAIL?
Trees for All wants to make a difference worldwide and therefore wants to introduce the 1-2-Tree programme. For a contribution of only € 12.50, the foundation is simultaneously planting a tree in the Netherlands and in another continent. The foundation also guarantees that these forests are maintained and protected for at least 50 years.
In collaboration with Trees for All, the United Packaging Forest initially opted for the following 2 initiatives:
- The Netherlands – Replanting of trees in the Bieslandse forest
- Uganda – Planting of trees in Kibale National Park
Trees for All will work on the restoration of the Bieslandse Forest for the next 3 years. The forest lies between Delft and Zoetermeer and is an important green oasis in the urban area. A large part of the forest has been affected by the ash branch disease, causing many trees to die. These trees are felled to prevent unsafe situations. Trees for All works together with Staatbosbeheer on the sustainable restoration of this forest by planting new trees.
In total, more than 50,000 young trees go into the ground, with local tree species such as alder, oak, linden, willow, hazel and sweet cherry. These trees are not susceptible to the ash branch disease, and can therefore grow into mature forest giants. By planting many different tree species (22 species), extra food is created for animals, such as berries, seeds and nuts.
The Kibale National Park is a nature reserve as large as the province of Utrecht and is located in southwestern Uganda. It offers protection to more than 375 bird species and more than seventy mammals, including endangered chimpanzees. This beautiful nature area is depleting rapidly due to deforestation and soil erosion. So for UPF a logical choice to save this unique area in time from complete destruction.
WHAT OTHER BENEFITS DOES THIS ANBI FOUNDATION HAVE?
The Trees for All Foundation is committed to transparency. For example, it opens up its calculation methods to the outside world, such as the CO2 calculation for air travel compensation. The foundation has an ANBI status, which means that they do not have to pay inheritance and gift tax. Donors may deduct their gifts from income or corporation tax. And this creates financial space to possibly purchase even more trees!
WHO ARE THE PARTNERS BEHIND THE
UPF-
PROJECT?
The United Packaging Forest is an initiative that originated in the packaging world and is open to anyone who recognizes themselves in the fight against illegal logging. Large multinationals or individuals, customers, suppliers, employees, or other players in the packaging chain are welcome to join. When ACTING appeals to you, join the UPF and contribute to making our beautiful planet viable.
HOW CAN I CONTRIBUTE?
With the slogan “Every tree is one” we want to emphasize that all contributions are welcome. Together we contribute and together we achieve results. Bringing together small and large donations creates forests that will last a lifetime. Together with Trees for All, the initiators have put together the following four packages:
PACKAGE 1
Bronze
The bronze package contains one to nine 1-2-Tree tree packages (at € 12,50 each).
Do you want to donate one of these bronze packages?
PACKAGE 2
Silver
The silver package consists of all donations from 10 to 49 1-2-Tree tree packages (at € 12,50 each).
Do you want to donate one of these silver packages?
PACKAGE 3
Gold
All donations from 50 up to and including 99 1-2-Tree tree packages are included in the golden package (at € 12,50 each).
Do you want to donate one of these gold packages?
PACKAGE 4
Platinum
All donations from more than one hundred 1-2-Tree tree packages (at € 12.50 each) fall within the platinum package.
Do you want to donate one of these platinum packages?
I ALSO WANT TO PROMOTE OUR REGISTRATION INTERNALLY!
For anyone who wants to promote the UPF project, it is possible to purchase a nice tree with a writable thermometer (€ 150). This so-called “mother tree” of +/- 1m² is made of lightweight material and with the supplied green marker you can indicate the state of affairs on the thermometer. There are also larger variants, you can request the prices from the project manager. Every month the project manager informs you about the latest developments. When we have realized the first forest of 2,000 trees, you will receive a set of beautiful stickers with which we celebrate our success. The counter is then reset to zero and together we bring the next bunch together!
All donors can order their Trees for All mother tree from project manager Kees Kok (keeskok@berryglobal.com).

WHY ARE TREES
SO IMPORTANT?
Trees are extremely effective in storing CO2. They absorb the CO2 from the air and convert it into oxygen. In addition to purifying the air, trees and forests have much more added value. They provide fruit and wood for humans and animals and simultaneously offer shelter and protection to the same groups. Trees prevent dehydration and soil erosion.
A healthy and sustainably planted tree ensures that the earth gives back more than it takes! And let’s not forget that forests are also a perfect place to walk, play and relax. We have the ability to ensure that this can be experienced by many future generations. Let’s take that opportunity!
